Abstract:
In order to address the issue of the cool-feeling property of cool-feeling fabrics deteriorating after printing and coating, the phase change microcapsules (PCMs) with high phase-transition enthalpy and high thermal stability was fabricated for the coating of cool-feeling fabrics, conferring printed patterns to the cool-feeling fabrics without compromising their cool-feeling attributes. The melamine resin-coated n-octadecane PCMs were synthesized via deposition polymerization and blended with binders and crosslinking agents to formulate the printing coating slurry, which was utilized for the coating and printing of three cool-feeling fabrics. The phase-transition enthalpy, thermal stability, and contact transient cool-feeling of the PCMs and their coated cool-feeling fabrics were examined. The experimental outcomes indicated that the surface of the PCMs was smooth, with an phase-transition enthalpy of 197 J/g and a thermal decomposition temperature of 288 ℃. When the PCMs slurry was prepared at a mass ratio of PCMs: binder: crosslinking agent of 70∶25∶5 and applied to the fabric coating, the PCMs on the fabric surface were clearly discernible. The phase-transition enthalpy of the three cool-feeling fabrics were 26.0 J/g, 24.6 J/g, and 21.5 J/g respectively, and the cool-feeling coefficient of the PCMs cool-feeling fabrics was further enhanced and Qmax≥0.24 W/cm
2. After soaping, the phase-transition enthalpy retention rate of the PCMs coated composite fabrics exceeded 90%, still maintaining excellent cool-feeling effects.
