Abstract:The oxygen saturation of blood is an important vital sign. This paper proposes a new method of continuous noninvasive measurement of oxygen saturation based on blood video by extensively analyzing the physiological mechanism depending on arterial blood volumepulsewave and reviewing the principle and method of oxygen saturation measurement based on volumetric pulse wave. This method first uses mixed light to irradiate the arterial blood and captures blood stream video with mobile-phone cameras, then calculates the arterial blood oxygen content according to the blood flow volume and continuous changes in blood color. By comparing the measuring results with those from professional equipment, it shows the proposed method is with high accuracy, stable and reliable.

Abstract:A thermally conductive composite consisting of polycarbonate (PC) resin and boron nitride (BN) was prepared by injection molding method. The effects of size and content of BN particles, preparation process of the composite, and the dispersion state of BN on the thermal and mechanical properties of the composites were investigated. The result showed that thermal conductivity of BN/PC composite prepared by the proposed was much higher than that of BN/PC composite prepared by either melting method or powder method. In addition, the thermal conductivity of the composites could be improved by increasing the BN particle size, but the tensile strength would be decreased. With the increasing content of BN particles, the thermal conductivity could be increased accordingly. Meanwhile, the tensile strength first increased and then decreased. When the content of BN was increased to 5 wt%, the tensile strength can reach the maximum value of 65.14 MPa. The thermal properties of the composites prepared by BN/PC solution and PC beads were better than those of BN/PC composites.

Abstract:All-solid-state thin film Lithium ion battery (TFLB) have great potential in micro-power applications. To obtain solid electrolyte layer, the LiPON thin film is usually used which can be deposited by radio frequency (RF) magnetron sputtering means. In this work, a LiPON thin film deposition method is investigated by the off-axis RF magnetron sputtering method under variable N2 working pressure. The experimental results show that LiPON solid electrolyte layer with Li+ conductivity of 2.4×10-6 S?cm-1 can be obtained under the working pressure of 0.2 Pa. Additionally, the TFLB with structure of LiCoO2/LiPON/Li is fabricated using the optimized LiPON electrolyte. The discharge capacity of first cycle at 0.1 C is 62.1 μA?h?cm-2?μm-1 for TFLB, while 51.7 μA?h?cm-2?μm-1 at a higher rate of 4 C. Moreover, after 5 cycles of charge/discharge process at 0.1 C, 0.5 C, 1 C, 2 C and 4 C, the capacity retention ratio of 0.1 C for TFLB can still reach 90%.

Abstract:To investigate the methods of developing type II diabetic rat models, 12 male Wistar rats aged 12 months were adopted in the experiment. Firstly, the rats were naturally fed with high-fat food for four months, then the rats were weighted and their fasting blood glucose (FBG) levels were measured. Then, each rat was injected with a small dose of streptozotocin (STZ) solution (dose: 20 mg/kg, density: 10 mg/mL) for three times and their FBG levels were measured again within one week after each injection. Subsequently, the rats were considered as type II diabetic models when their FBG values were higher than 11.1 mmol/L. The results show that the weights of Wistar rats increase significantly after feeding with high fat diet for four months. Besides, the FBG levels of the rats increase from 5.6±0.7 mmol/L to 22.9±2.7 mmol/L with a significant difference (P<0.01). Furthermore, the averaged FBG level of the rats is significantly higher than the standard FBG level of 11.1 mmol/L and with a successful rate of 83.3%. In conclusion, the proposed method can develop type II diabetic models with Wistar rats.

    • Efficient Laser Operation Based on Transparent Nd:Lu2O3 Ceramic Fabricated by Spark Plasma Sintering

      2017, 6(6):37-46. DOI: 10.12146/j.issn.2095-3135.201706005

Abstract:High efficient laser operation based on the SPSed (spark plasma sintering) Nd:Lu2O3 ceramic was investigated in this paper. Laser performance of Nd:Lu2O3 samples before and after anneal were tested respectively, and results show that the samples after anneal have much better optical quality. When a linear cavity was used, the annealed Nd:Lu2O3 ceramic sample can output maximum power of 880 mW with a corresponding slope efficiency of 40%. When a V-shape cavity was used, annealed Nd:Lu2O3 ceramic sample can output maximum power of 1.25 W with a corresponding slope efficiency of 38%. The laser spectral lines at 1 076.7 nm and 1 080.8 nm oscillated simultaneously, but the thermal lensing effect limited the increase of output power of the Nd:Lu2O3 ceramic laser. Experimental results showed that the high optical quality Nd:Lu2O3 ceramic can be fabricated by the spark plasma sintering method.

Abstract:With the development of flat panel detector technology, cone-beam computerized tomography (CBCT) has become an important image technique, and been widely applied in clinical practices. Specially, C-arm mounted CBCT has shown extra suitability in image guided interventional surgeries. However, how to acquire real-time, high resolution, and high quality 3D images remains challenging. In this paper, a GPU based acceleration method for fast C-arm CBCT 3D image reconstruction was proposed. With the acceleration both in algorithm and system design, it is shown that the system performance is enhanced with the proposed system design by 26% and reconstruction delay is accelerated by 2.1 times when 90 frames of projections were used, and the performance increases to 39% and 3.3 times with 120 frames.

Abstract:Polycystic ovarian syndrome is a disease with dysgenesis and metabolic disorders, which has the characteristics including the polycystic ovary and hyperandrogenism. In order to guide the diagnose the syndrome, three visions of diagnostic criteria were presented and implemented all over the world, the National Institutes of Health 1990 criteria, the Rotterdam 2003 criteria, and the Androgen Excess Society 2006 criteria. Many adipokines have effects on PCOS, which have the following biological fuctions, such as inflammatory response, immunoreaction, energy storage, and so on. Chemerin, a new adipokine, was found with higher concentration in PCOS patients, comparing the healthy, therole of which in the pathogenesis of PCOS was not clear. This review indicated the role of Chemerin in the pathological development which maintain the potential therapeutic target in PCOS.
